Apr 10: Al Jazeera reports on a new venture in the Gaza strip , a training restaurant where teachers are using their hands and not words to train twelve students with hearing disabilities.
These students are passionate about cooking and are determined to open their own restaurant, which would be the first to be run by deaf chefs in Gaza. For the past two months the students have been receiving stellar training by their teacher who is well versed in sign language, teaching these young aspiring chefs traditional Middle Eastern cuisine.
The project is supported by the Atfaluna Society , which is optimistic about the outcomes of this initiative. More importantly the project is a reflection of the creativity and will of local communities in Gaza to work with persons with disabilities. It also reflects their understanding of local social enterprises , innovation and more importantly their love for good food.
