Indigo refuses to fly blind person | Print |

INDIA, FEB 27: It is the third incident of discrimination by airlines in less than a week. After Spice jet and Jet airways, Indigo denied ticket to Tony Kurian, a 22-year-old Blind student unless he had an escort or a dog. Indigo has issued a written apology to the 22-year- old.

But is an apology enough for such insensitive behaviour? It's the height of insensitivity. Another airline has now snubbed a  passengers with disabilities. After spicejet, go air and jet airways it's now indigo which has denied a ticket to a blind student.

Tony was denied a ticket unless he had an escort or a dog.

While indigo has given a written apology to Kurian, is that action enough against officials who have clearly broken the rules?

Claiming airline policy that is absolutely discriminatory and considering this is the 3rd case of insensitive behaviour airline in just the past week, what is the DGCA doing to ensure that such shocking incidents don't repeat?
